Dementia Home Consultation

Help your loved one stay at home, safely and comfortably.

A specialist consultation, in person or online, with an interior designer who understands this from both sides of the door.

Does any of this sound familiar?

  • Has you or a loved one recently been diagnosed with dementia and are wondering whether your home can be made more supportive?
  • Are you worried about how a family member will manage safely at home, and not sure where to start?
  • Or would you like to be more prepared, making changes now so the home stays a safe and familiar place for years to come?

If any of those resonate, you are in the right place. And the fact that you are asking these questions at all means you are already doing something important.

I have been where you are. I cared for my mum Maureen, who lived with dementia, and that experience changed how I see every home I walk into. I know what it feels like to love someone through this, and I know what thoughtful design can do.

I am Jo Jeyes, an interior designer specialising in accessible and inclusive design. I have spent years working with families navigating exactly this moment.

I look at the home through the eyes of someone living with dementia, and I tell you clearly and honestly what is working, what is not, and what small changes can make a meaningful difference.

Two ways to work with me

Whether I visit in person or we work together remotely, the quality of what you receive is the same: practical, expert guidance shaped around your specific home and situation.

IN PERSON

Home visit

I come to you. The visit lasts around 90 minutes and covers the rooms that matter most, looking at lighting, layout, flooring, navigation and the details that are easy to miss but matter every day.

£275

Fixed price, no hidden costs. Includes travel within Essex and surrounding areas. Further afield, please get in touch and we will discuss.

REMOTE

Virtual consultation

We connect via video call. You walk me through the home on camera, and I give you the same quality of observation and recommendations from anywhere in the UK. All you need is a phone or tablet.

£210

Available UK-wide. Same expertise, same written summary, no travel required.

What to expect

Before either type of consultation, we will have a short introductory call, by phone or video, whichever you prefer. You can tell me what you are most concerned about and get a feel for how I work. There is no pressure and no obligation.

DURING THE VISIT
I look at the home from the point of view of someone living with dementia. Not as an inspection, but as a conversation. You tell me what you are worried about. I tell you what I see.

WHAT I LOOK FOR
Confusion triggers, fall risks, wayfinding challenges, and opportunities. The places where a simple change could protect confidence and independence.

AFTER THE VISIT
A clear written summary with practical, prioritised recommendations. Things to act on now, and things to plan for. Plus, my Dementia-Friendly Home booklet to keep and share with other family members.

HOW IT FEELS
Warm, unhurried and non-clinical. Many families say they leave feeling clearer and more hopeful than they expected. That matters to me.

A note on cost

I want this service to be as accessible as possible. If cost is a barrier, please reach out. I consider every enquiry individually and will always try to find a way to help.

Many families find that the consultation pays for itself many times over, in practical changes made, in decisions clarified, and in the relief of feeling less alone with it all.

Start the conversation

A simple phone call over a cup of tea is all it takes. Email me at studio@joannejeyes.com with ‘Dementia Consultation’ in the subject line. I will be back in touch within two working days.

All enquiries are handled personally by me. Everything discussed is treated with complete confidentiality.
