Life Skills Training Kitchen

This project involved transforming a former warehouse office into a fully functional life skills training kitchen for an innovative day service supporting young adults with additional needs in Essex.

The design prioritised accessibility, safety, and engagement, creating a welcoming environment to foster independent living skills. The space was thoughtfully planned to support hands-on training in cooking, meal preparation, and domestic tasks. Every detail, from the intuitive layout to the choice of durable, user-friendly materials, was carefully considered to meet the specific needs of the young people using the space.

Working within a tight budget for such a large-scale project was a challenge, but with incredible support from local trades, we brought this vision to life. Seeing The Base now in use by over 80 young people is something I’m immensely proud of.
